In the other hand, you can turn your computer to a Wifi hotspot with those simple step below.
Requirements: Supported Wireless card, using Win Vista and above.
Step 1:
Open command prompt:
- Go to Start menu, type cmd, right click on cmd.exe then click Run As Administrator (for Win 7)
- Press Windows key(the key has Windows Flags) + X and Press A to run Command Prompt as Admin(for Win 8)
Check if your wireless card support hostednetwork:
Type in the command prompt windows and press Enter:
netsh wlan show driversIf your wireless card supported hostednetwork, you will see the line in the red circle below
Step 3:
Configure Wifi hotspot:
Type the command below and press Enter:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid="YOUR WIFI HOTSPOT NAME" key=wifi_hotspot_passwordIf the result like the above picture then you are succeed. If it said "your hosted network couldn’t be started" then make sure your Wifi turned on? If your Wifi turned on but it show the error then you should update driver for your Wireless Card.
Step 4:
Start Wifi hotspot
Type the command below and press Enter:
netsh wlan start hostednetworkIf the result like the below picture then you're done!
You can stop Wifi hotspot by command:
netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
Step 6:
Because the Wifi hotspot not start at Windows startup so you can create shortcut to start/stop wifi hotspot:
Right click on Desktop, select New -> Shortcut
Type in the Type the location of the item box command netsh wlan start hostednetwork to start Wifi hotspot
Then press Next and enter Shortcut name: Start Wifi and press Finish.
Do the same for Stop Wifi shortcut, type in the box Type the location of the item command netsh wlan stop hostednetwork, press Next and type the shortcut name Stop Wifi.
From now on, you can start/stop Wifi hotspot with some click with 2 shortcut on Desktop:
So, you finish create wifi hotspot, but this hotspot still not able to access the Internet.
To share Internet Connection do these step below:
Step 1:
Go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing center, notice the red circle area, that is the Wifi Hotspot Adapter's name (in this example is Wireless Network Connection 2)
Step 2:
Select Change Adapter Setting, right click on the Internet Connection (in this example is the 3G Viettel connection) select Properties
Step 3:
Choose Tab Sharing and configure as the picture below, note that Home networking connection you should select the Wifi Hotspot Adapter (as mention above is Wireless Network Connection 2) and click OK (if there is another box appear, just click YES or OK).
Congratulation! You have finished sharing your internet connection via Wifi, you can use this trick to create wifi hotspot for LAN communicating (such as File Sharing, Gaming via LAN).
